Natural Hair is Gorgeous

Continuation from pros and cons of natural hair 1

Pro:

STRENGTH FOR LENGTH: Natural hair has elasticity, strength, volume, so it doesn’t break easily making it easier to reach your hair goal. The full strength and maximum benefit of the hair is gained when it’s Natural. It can withstand more abuse than relaxed hair such as straighteners, etc. (It would still be affected but not easily)

Con:

NOT WATER FRIENDLY: Natural hair returns to its original state and shape when water touches it. So styling it during rainy season could be a risk. Swimming with your natural hair straightened and uncovered might not be a good idea.

Pro:

VERSATILITY: You can get perfect curls, kinky, afro and straight hair when you are natural unlike relaxed hair, you can’t get afro with it no matter how hard you try.

Con:

SHRINKAGE: If length is your goal, your natural hair could be waist length in about four years, but you can only see that when straightened. It would still look like its shoulder length or at best bra length, depending on how tight your natural curls are. It would only be obvious (without straightening) after about 7 years or more.

Con:

PRODUCT TRIAL AND ERROR: To get what is best for your natural hair, you would need to try a LOT of products cos every hair is unique. It’s easier to get what is best suited for relaxed hair than natural.

Natural Afro-textured hair is really gorgeous. If you happen to be a very busy or impatient person, and you love to have natural hair, it would be a good idea to maintain very short afro; because the length of your hair is determined by how well you take care of it. (Haircare takes TIME and PATIENCE)

After reading this, if you think natural hair is meant for you, then, go for it girl. It doesn’t matter what society or anyone might say about it, what matters most is that you are happy and you love your hair.

Stay beautiful!!!
